The Black Sea is an interconnected region between Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus and Türkiye. While the geopolitical importance of the Black Sea is indisputable, more attention is needed to its separate actors. It is clear the Black Sea can play a larger role in Asia-Europe trade via the South Caucasus, if the hard and soft infrastructure elements are in place to support increased transit volumes while lowering the costs of transportation.
The new deep seaport will enhance Georgia’s port infrastructure while reducing the cost of trading and improving economic opportunities both regionally and domestically. Thus, SavvY team worked on the feasibility study of the world-class port complex enabling the country to receive and serve any type of vessels entering the Black Sea, including the largest ones. It will also bring vast employment and economic opportunities for the people of Georgia. During working on the feasibility study, SavvY team analysed the tra Intensified Traffic Across the Black Sea, the impact of Russian-Ukraine war, The importance and development perspectives of the Middle Corridor, the importance of deep sea port and the international trends of growing trade and container flows, Georgian ports and their occupancy. Based on thein-depth analysis and industry assumptions, as well as information on port development costs, SavvY team developed the financial model.
